About Us
Welcome to Centerville News – The Heartbeat of The Deerest Place in Texas.
We’re more than just a small-town newspaper; we’re a team dedicated to keeping our community connected, informed, and proud of the place we call home.
Owner/Publisher/Editor – Sara Ewing
Sara grew up right here in Centerville and is a proud 2014 graduate of Centerville High School. As a kid, she loved visiting the newspaper office and tagging along with Amy and John Ackley to games and events when Mrs. Emma Bass owned the paper. That early love for local news planted the seed for what would one day become her own dream.
After high school, Sara spent some time working before returning to school in 2022 to continue her education. She is now an alumna of Texas Tech University, graduating with the class of 2025. Her hometown roots and passion for storytelling are at the heart of everything we do here at Centerville News.
IT/Website Director/Photographer/Right Hand Man – Jason Robinson
Jason grew up in Mumford, Texas, graduating from Mumford High School in 2014 before continuing his studies at TSTC in Waco. These days, he works at Texas A&M University as an Instrumentation and Controls Technician (seriously, it’s pretty cool – ask him about his day job sometime). When he’s not keeping our website and cameras running smoothly, he’s making sure Centerville News stays up to speed.
Office Assistant/Photographer – Cheyenne Wood
Cheyenne, another proud 2014 graduate of Centerville High School, is not only part of the team but also family. She is married to Wyatt Wood, and together they have two children who attend Centerville Elementary. As Sara’s best friend, Cheyenne brings creativity, organization, and a sharp eye behind the lens to everything she does. We’re blessed to have her as part of the Centerville News crew.
And then there’s George.
Our yellow lab, George, is the real boss around here. He was the inspiration for our first business, Yella Dawg Photography, which we started long before we ever imagined running a newspaper. Today, George still runs the show (at least, he thinks he does). All of our photos from games and community events can be found in the Yella Dawg Gallery page (see the link below), where you can purchase your favorites.
At the end of the day, Centerville News exists because of our community. Our goal is simple: to celebrate our hometown spirit, share the stories that matter, and keep Centerville connected. We’re honored to carry on the tradition of being The Heartbeat of The Deerest Place in Texas.
